Do not share your usernames and passwords – Always remember that banks and other financial institutions that offer internet banking services would NEVER request customers to reveal or verify their PIN or passwords via email or a hyperlink through the email or over the phone.
Key in the URL of the bank’s website directly into the web browser to ensure that you are in the bank’s legitimate website. Before carrying out online banking transactions:-Always use a personal firewall and ensure that your computer's/device’s anti-virus software is up-to-date.
Check that the site address begins with "https";
Look for a display of a closed padlock symbol on the status bar of your browser.
Do not store your Login ID and password or PIN in the computer or on your smartphone.
Do not access your bank account from unprotected PCs in public places such as in internet cafes. Also avoid using public access Wi-Fi when accessing your online banking account through your smartphone, laptop or other portable devices.
Beware of people watching over your shoulder if you are logging onto an online banking site in a public place.
Change your password or PIN regularly and avoid using easy-to-guess passwords, such as 123456, your birthdate, etc.
Do not leave your computer/smartphone unattended when logged in to your online banking account.
Always remember to log out properly when you have completed your banking transactions. Clear the memory cache and transaction history after logging out.
Reconcile your account(s) either online or by statements frequently and regularly.
